It is hard to believe that summer is halfway over. In my last message I pointed out how busy everyone in the College seems to be. That hasn’t appeared to have changed, so I am hoping that everyone (me included) finds time for a vacation!
Among those who have been really busy are Maureen Cronin of New York Life and Chris Lawrence of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, our Fall Annual Meeting Co-Chairs. They have been hard at work developing a program that you will not want to miss, particularly if you want to be sure to “get ahead of the game.” I don’t want to give the game away, but the topics will appeal to sports nuts, risk takers and those who just enjoy the game of life. And a reminder! We are really looking forward to our new venue at the Grand Hyatt at Grand Central. Be sure to save the date (October 22-23, 2015) and book your room before the room block fills.
Speaking of October—October 21, 2015 is the date that Marty and Dr. Brown started their trip “Back to the Future”. A perfect bookend to the very successful Spring Forum brought to you by Matt Gabrys of Northwestern Mutual and Tricia Mundy of Sullivan & Worcester. The College extends a very BIG thank you to them for their hard work and the great content (and fun) at the Spring Forum. We had a total of 169 registrations for the Conference—and extremely favorable feedback, which bodes very well for the next Spring conference.
One of the hallmarks of the College’s conferences is the volunteerism of so many folks. The moderators and speakers on the panels contribute many hours to make sure their panels are interesting and informative. In addition, the officers, the trustees, the Development Committee and the Education Committees all contribute time and ideas to help bring it all together. Many thanks to all of them as well.
Which brings me to my next point—if you are interested in volunteering, being on a committee, being a speaker, a moderator, or even a Co-Chair, we very much encourage you to let any one of the officers, trustees or Committee Chairs know. If you have a topic or a panel idea for a future conference or CLE program, please let any of the Co-Chairs of the Education Committee, Ann King, Quinn Moss or Leslie Mazza, know. Co-Chair selections happen about 6-7 months before a conference, so it is never too early to let us know if you think you would like to Co-Chair a conference in the future. The Co-Chairs of the Committees will start thinking about the composition of their committees right after the Fall Annual Meeting, so again, if you have ever thought about volunteering for a committee, it is not too early to let one of the Co-Chairs know of your interest (and any great ideas that you might have for the committee).
Lastly while I am not sure whether October 21, 2015 will bring Marty and Dr. Brown back, I am sure that the next 12 months will continue to bring changes and improvements to our website and how the College interfaces with its membership. Change is good!
Looking forward to seeing you all in New York.
