Spotlight on New ACIC Members
The ACIC has recently welcomed the following new members:
Kaitlin Betancourt is a Vice President and Corporate Counsel in the legal department of the Chief Investment Office of Prudential Financial, Inc., where she provides legal advice to the Alternative Assets Group and Impact Investments on alternative asset investments, including private equity, hedge fund and real estate investments. Kaitlin is also the chief derivatives lawyer with respect to Prudential’s proprietary derivatives trading. Kaitlin received her J.D., cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law, her M.A. in Russian Translation from Columbia University and her B.A., summa cum laude, from The George Washington University.
Tom Bohac is an associate with Locke Lord LLP where he focuses his practice on investment management and corporate law. Tom has considerable experience counseling clients with respect to Investment Advisers Act and Investment Company Act issues, as well as assisting institutional investors with investments in private equity and other private fund vehicles. Tom received his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School and B.B.A. from Loyola University Chicago.
Peter Butler is an associate in the Finance Group of Schiff Hardin LLP. Peter’s practice focuses on a variety of financing transactions including acquisition financings, private placements, mezzanine financings and private equity transactions. Peter regularly represents institutional investors in a wide range of privately placed transactions as well as middle-market lenders, investors, sponsors and portfolio companies in acquisition financings and related debt transactions. Peter also has experience representing lenders and borrowers in asset-based financings. Peter received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University.
Lexi Calcado is a senior associate in the Corporate & Securities section of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP’s New York office. Lexi’s practice encompasses public and private debt and equity financings, with a focus in the energy and utility space. Lexi was recognized as an associate to watch by Chambers USA in 2021. Lexi received her J.D. from Columbia Law School and her B.A. from Tufts University.
Andrew Hammond is a Corporate Counsel in the Law Department of Pricoa Private Capital, and is based in the London office. Andrew advises on a broad range of domestic and international investments including debt and equity capital markets financings, direct lending and mezzanine finance transactions.
Wendy Harlan leads the Investments practice in Unum’s law department. In addition to working on Unum’s commercial mortgage loans, Wendy supports Unum’s investments in private placement debt and equity. She received her B.A. from Wellesley College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School. Wendy is based in Unum’s Portland, Maine office and welcomes a coffee or microbrewery break with any ACIC fellows visiting Maine.
Mårten Olsson is a Counsel in the Capital Markets / Energy Infrastructure Project and Asset Finance practice groups at White & Case LLP in New York. Mårten represents issuers, investors, placement agents, initial purchasers, underwriters, lenders, sponsors and borrowers in a full range of domestic and international debt and equity financings and related transactions, including: registered offerings, private placement pursuant to Rule 144A/Regulation S and Section 4(a)(2), debt tender and exchange offers, consent solicitations, exchange listings, as well as disclosure and corporate governance advice to US and non-US clients. Mårten received his J.D. equivalent law degree from Stockholm University and his LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.
Sobara Simon-Hart is a Senior Corporate Counsel in MetLife Investment Management’s (MIM) London office. Sobara comes from a banking background, with a specialism in derivatives and structured products and has spent her career working from and covering transactions US, Europe, The Middle East and Africa. Within MIM, Sobara dual hats as (a) a privates attorney, undertaking a broad range of private placements, infrastructure, ABS and social investment transactions and (b) supports the MIM platform with its investment management, regulatory and operational arrangements. Sobara qualified as a solicitor with Mayer Brown in 2009, having completed her LPC at Nottingham Law School and her BA at Warwick University.
Nate Stanger is a Counsel in MetLife’s Investments Law Department. Nate practices in the Fixed Income and Alternatives Unit, where he provides legal advice and counsel to MetLife’s investment professionals domestically and abroad on a wide range of investments, including general corporate private placements, energy and infrastructure financings and mezzanine lending. Nate received his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and his B.S. from McGill University.
