Communications Committee:
The Communications Committee seeks to be the ACIC’s voice, both to its members and to the outside world. Our focus is to facilitate communication about the activities of, and news regarding, the ACIC, particularly through the generation and distribution of the ACIC’s monthly e-newsletter, Private Notes. In the future we hope to further develop the ACIC’s use of other electronic platforms while working closely with other ACIC Committees, including the newly-formed Website Committee, to promote the ACIC. For example, we would like to further promote the ACIC and distribute content on and through LinkedIn and other appropriate forms of social media.
The Communications Committee is always looking for new, original and relevant content. If you have an article of interest to the ACIC members, or would like to contribute in any other way, please contact either of the Communications Committee co-chairs, at czalford@kslaw.com, or michael.fierro@prudential.com.

Education Committee:
The ACIC Education Committee (the “Committee”) has adopted the following mission statement:
The Committee will be responsible generally for advising the Officers and Trustees regarding all educational programming sponsored by the College. The educational programming is guided by the College’s historic focus on non-public debt and equity investments, as well as the evolving scope of public and alternative investments that are available to the College’s constituencies and the complex issues that are involved in such investments. This programming is essential to promoting the College’s core missions of collegiality and education. Where appropriate and possible, such programming shall be offered for CLE credit in select states, and the Committee shall oversee registration requirements for the College as a CLE provider in those states.
In this regard, the Committee assists the Annual Meeting and Spring Forum co-chairs in planning, coordinating, developing and implementing the panels, presentations and similar educational programs to be presented and discussed at each of the College’s semiannual conferences.
In addition, the Committee is responsible for identifying topics of current interest to be presented and discussed at educational events attended by Fellows of the College. The Committee may offer, and may also collaborate with other committees established by the Trustees to offer, educational programming and/or forums (such as message boards or chatrooms) on the College’s website or social media, and will aim to review such programming and forums in light of other programming offered by the College at scheduled conferences and events.
The Education Committee is in the process of soliciting topics for upcoming 1-hour CLEs (either as webinars, or as part of a lunch or cocktail hour gathering) as well as for the Annual Meeting in October. Suggestions on topics and speakers are welcome from all Members of the College. Coming soon this spring, in addition to the Spring Forum, the Committee is planning a CLE regarding “Battle of the Forms: A Comparison of the ACIC Model Form to the New LMA Facility and Subscription Agreements for Private Loan and Note transactions in Europe”. In June, the Committee also aims to offer a CLE regarding “Middle Market Loan Deals: Subordination and Other Key Issues”.

Membership Committee:The Membership Committee is tasked with supervising the election of individuals for membership in the College (“Fellows”), and does so by receiving nominations for fellowship from other Fellows of the College, and reviewing the applications of nominated individuals for compliance with membership criteria as set out in the College’s act of incorporation, its by-laws, and the criteria adopted by the Trustees of the College from time to time. The Committee makes recommendations to the Trustees with respect to each application, to assist the Trustees with their decisions to approve applicants for fellowship. Forms of applications and nominations are posted on the College’s website, which include the requirements for admission and helpful guidance to applicants in order to ensure that all relevant information is put before the Committee and the Trustees.
As Fellows retire from active practice, we encourage them to stay with the College and continue to participate and contribute as Emeritus members.
The Committee also monitors membership numbers and demographics with a view to ensuring the vibrancy and diversity of the College, and from time to time makes recommendations to the Trustees to that end. There continues to be strong interest in the College, with new Fellows admitted at virtually every meeting of Trustees. This is due in no small part to the enthusiasm of our existing Fellows in promoting the College among their investor-side colleagues. This responsibility belongs to all of us, and so the efforts of our Fellows in this regard are sincerely appreciated!
Inquiries concerning Fellowship in the College may be directly to any member of the Committee.
