Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is primarily responsible for reviewing applications for ACIC membership and recommending applicants who meet the College’s membership criteria to the Board of Trustees for approval. The committee considers the totality of a candidate’s responses in their application, with particular emphasis on (i) the portion of the applicant’s practice that is devoted to representing institutional investors, (ii) indicative transactions that demonstrate the applicant’s representation of institutional investors, (iii) participation by the applicant in the activities of the College (e.g. forums and educational meetings), and (iv) other factors which the Board of Trustees deems relevant. The committee also reviews, and refers to the Board, applications for Emeritus status from long-time members who are retiring but want to remain involved in the College. Finally, the committee seeks to implement initiatives to improve the onboarding experience of new members in the College and to encourage active engagement among the membership generally.
Please reach out to the Co-Chairs, Jennifer Fitzpatrick (Pacific Life), Kevin Knohl (ArentFox Schiff LLP) or Tom Pasuit (Bayview Asset Management) with any questions.
Transaction Process Management Committee
The Transaction Process Management Committee (TPMC) is responsible for the continued development of the Model Form Note Purchase Agreements and other documents. Over the last few years, the TPMC has been responsible for (i) updating the model form make-whole and swap indemnity language and letter and (ii) drafting and posting form language to the ACIC website to address ratings rationale requirements for private letter ratings. The TPMC is currently working on updates to the Model Form Note Purchase Agreements.
Education Committee
The Education Committee assists the Annual Meeting and Spring Forum co-chairs in planning, coordinating, developing and implementing the educational programs of the College. Each event is a multi-day conference during which up to 10 hours of continuing education panels consisting of a comprehensive array of relevant topics are presented as well as numerous opportunities for networking between the sessions. In addition, the Committee is responsible for identifying topics of current interest to be presented and discussed at one-hour CLE webinars open to members of the College. The Education Committee seeks to present three or four such webinars annually. The Education Committee is comprised of roughly 20 members of the College, with representation from institutions and outside law firms. The Committee currently has 3 co-chairs and changes are made to the roster at the start of each year. We are always seeking topics and speaker recommendations for upcoming panels and webinars, so please contact an Education Committee member with your suggestions!
Communications and Public Relations Committee
In 2025, we have completed the combination of two committees to form the Communications and Public Relations Committee (CPRC). The CPRC organizes and executes the principal communications channels of the College, which include Private Notes, the periodic newsletter of the College, the ACIC website and the ACIC LinkedIn page. Since the last annual meeting, Private Notes was published in December 2024, May 2025 and September 2025. A link to each issue of Private Notes is emailed to all Fellows of the College, and all recent issues can be found on the website. All Fellows of the College are welcome to join the CPRC. It is a great way to meet and work with other Fellows of the College, learn about the College’s activities and upcoming events, and help contribute to its growth and improvement. If you are interested in joining the CPRC, please email office@aciclaw.org (or if you are applying for ACIC Membership (ACIC Membership Application Form – ACIC) and wish to join the CPRC, you can include the CPRC as your preferred committee).
Development Committee
The role of the Development Committee is to further the College’s mission of member education and collegiality by periodically examining the substantive practice areas of its membership and making recommendations to the Board of Trustees and members regarding the focus of educational offerings and membership criteria. The Development Committee’s activities serve to assure that the professional offerings of the College are relevant to the evolving legal practices of its members, while preserving the foundational origin of the College.
Please reach out to Co-Chairs Jenna Karen Jenson (Thrivent), Kate Lindsay (MetLife) or Renee Dailey (Eversheds Sutherland US) to learn more.
