Troy Harder – Bracewell LLP: Troy Harder’s practice focuses on corporate finance transactions, encompassing both public and private offerings of all types of securities, with an emphasis on debt securities. He represents underwriters, institutional investors and issuers in connection with financings, particularly in the energy and public utility industries. He frequently represents institutional investors in private placements of debt by utility issuers.
Sam Harmelech – Legal & General Investment Management America, Inc.: Sam Harmelech is a commercial real estate professional with experience in various elements of the commercial real estate industry. Currently, Sam is the Associate General Counsel, Real Assets of Legal & General Investment Management America, Inc. (“LGIMA”). In Sam’s role as Associate General Counsel, Real Assets of LGIMA, he supports LGIMA’s Real Assets business, which includes Private Credit (Investment Grade Private Placement debt), Real Estate Debt (traditional senior lien real estate loans), and Real Estate Equity (traditional real estate equity investments) in all aspects of the transactions including negotiations, structuring and due diligence. Previously, Sam was a Vice President of Real Estate & Associate General Counsel at Verano Holdings Corp., a commercial real estate transactional attorney at Dentons US LLP, a Retail Asset Manager at The Scion Group, and a Lease Restructuring Consultant at Hilco Real Estate. Sam brings a unique perspective to the commercial real estate industry as he has been involved in the industry as an attorney, investor, landlord, tenant, and consultant.
Sam lives in a Chicago suburb with his wife, Esther, son, Jonah, and dog, Cecelia (“CeCe”). He enjoys cheering on his favorite Chicago sports teams (Bulls, Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks), trying all the best new restaurants the city has to offer, and traveling the world with his wife.
Sam is both a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois and a licensed attorney in the state of Illinois.
Angus Hortop – Pricoa Private Capital: Angus Hortop is Vice President, Corporate Counsel for Pricoa Private Capital and is based in the London office. His background is in leveraged finance having spent the past 5 years with Latham & Watkins in London. Angus has recently joined Pricoa and works directly with the investment professionals in Pricoa’s London, Madrid and Milan offices covering a range of investment products, from Investment Grade US private placement financings to direct lending and mezzanine investments. In his spare time, Angus enjoys rugby, tennis and cooking for his family.
Steven Laabs – The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company: Steve Laabs is an Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary on the Securities Investments team at Northwestern Mutual. In this role, Steve primarily supports Northwestern Mutual and its investment subsidiaries in connection with public and private institutional investments. Steve also works closely with NM’s Corporate Strategy and other departments in connection with strategic and other significant projects and transactions. Steve has both a BS in Finance and a JD from Marquette University. Steve spends most of his free time coaching youth sports and attending various activities with his wife and three kids.
