Communications Committee
The Communications Committee is responsible for communications among the College’s members and for communications between the College and the investment community at large. The Committee is prepares and publishes the College’s newsletter, Private Notes. Among other items of interest to the College’s members, the monthly Private Notes includes summaries of recent US and international judicial decisions, information about job openings, CLE announcements, original content articles, interviews with fellows and recaps of the Spring Conference and the Annual Fall Meeting. The Private Notes is emailed to fellows and also is published on LinkedIn.
The co-chairs of the Communications Committee are Keith Atkinson (Nuveen), Lisa Conmy (Foley & Lardner), Danielle Maksimow (Norton Rose Fulbright Canada), Michael Robson (Greenberg Traurig) and Brendan Kelly (New York Life) The co-editors of the College’s monthly newsletter are Nicholas Dumas (Aflac), Stephanie Holding (Holland & Knight) and Sarah Olson (Thrivent).

Development Committee
The role of the Development Committee is to further the College missions of member education and collegiality by periodically examining the substantive practice areas of its membership and making recommendations to the Board of Trustees and members regarding the focus of educational offerings and membership criteria. The Development Committee’s activities serve to assure that the professional offerings of the College are relevant to the evolving legal practices of its members, while preserving the foundational origin of the College. In 2023, the Development Committee hosted fireside chats with retired members at the Spring and Fall conferences. Currently, the Development Committee is working with the 2024 Spring conference co-chairs, Sumbul Ali (Sun Life Capital Management) and Jeffrey Dutson (King & Spalding), to integrate their stadium concert theme into printed materials, swag bags, and conference events. The Development Committee is also working on logistics for an expanded networking lunch, aimed at welcoming new members, during the 2024 Spring conference. Finally, the Development Committee and Membership Committee are working together on an ongoing member outreach initiative, with the goal of expanding institutional/law firm engagement.
Education Committee
The Education Committee assists the Annual Meeting and Spring Forum co-chairs in planning, coordinating, developing and implementing the educational programs of the College. Each event is a multi-day conference during which up to 10 hours of continuing education panels are presented as well as numerous opportunities for networking between the sessions. In addition, the Committee is responsible for identifying topics of current interest to be presented and discussed at one-hour CLE webinars open to members of the College. The Education Committee seeks to present three or four such webinars annually. The Education Committee is comprised of roughly 20 members of the College, with representation from institutions and outside law firms. The Committee currently has 4 co-chairs and changes are made to the roster at the start of each year. We are always seeking topics for upcoming panels and webinars, so please contact an Education Committee member with your suggestions!
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for considering applications for ACIC membership and recommending those applicants meeting the membership criteria of the College to the Board of Trustees for approval. The committee considers the totality of a candidate’s responses in their application, with particular emphasis given to (i) the portion of the applicant’s practice which is devoted to representing institutional investors, (ii) indicative transactions or other legal representations on behalf of institutional investors demonstrating the applicant’s representation of institutional investors, (iii) participation by the applicant in the activities of the College (e.g. forums and educational meetings), and (iv) other factors which the Board of Trustees has determined to be relevant to the College. The committee also reviews, and refers to the Board, applications for Emeritus status from long-time members who are retiring but want to remain plugged in to the College. Finally, the committee seeks to implement various initiatives to improve the onboarding experience of new members in the College and to encourage active engagement in the College among the membership generally.

Transaction Process Management Committee
The Transaction Process Management Committee (TPMC) is responsible for the continued development of the Model Form Note Purchase Agreements and other documents. Over the last few years, the TPMC has been responsible for (i) updating the model form make-whole and swap indemnity language and letter and (ii) drafting and posting form language to the ACIC website to address ratings rationale requirements for private letter ratings. The TPMC is currently working on potential updates to the Model Form Documents, including evaluating approaches to make-whole in light of the Ultra decision.
Website and Social Committee
The Website and Social Committee is responsible for creating and maintaining the College’s website and social media accounts. We create and maintain content, as well as provide a forum for the sharing of information and resources relating to our business.
