A message from the co-chairs of the 2023 Spring Investment Forum, Manny Rodriguez (Avila Law) and Brendan Kelly (New York Life):
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Education Committee, we invite you to join us at the ACIC’s 2023 Spring Investment Forum to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago on April 27 and 28. Following last year’s exciting in-person meeting, we are looking forward to more networking opportunities, engaging presentations from distinguished speakers, and a wide array of topics of interest to investors in the private placement market. The conference will feature two exciting new programs. We are expanding the market update to two separate panels. The first, focusing on the domestic market, will kick-off the conference on Thursday. The second, focused on the cross-border market, will follow lunch on Thursday. Each will feature business and legal leaders for the respective regions. The other program addition is a 3-part restructuring series, which on Thursday will include a panel on major amendments in the context of a potential restructuring, and a second panel that will examine potential actions before a Chapter 11 filing, including types of enforcement. The third panel in the restructuring series will close the conference on Friday and include a short review of the bankruptcy process and a deep dive into post-workout/enforcement issues, including taking possession of various types of assets and governance issues. Also, we will have two ethics panels, one which will feature experts on cybersecurity reviewing issues specific to lawyers, and another that will examine conflict of interest rules and issues, including for managed accounts. There will be two additional panels, one which addresses the elements of a good issues memo, and the other which highlights the provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act and how it may impact renewable energy investing.
