- Joshua Deason is a partner in the New York office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. He practices in the Firm’s Finance Practice Group of the Corporate and Financial Services Department, focusing on private placement, banking and institutional finance. Joshua represents insurance companies, institutional investors and issuers in domestic and cross-border institutional private placement transactions. He also represents domestic and international borrowers, private equity sponsors and lenders in a wide array of secured and unsecured bank financings, including acquisition financings, first-lien/second-lien financings, investment grade financings, mutual fund financings and asset-based lending transactions. Joshua received a B.A. in Psychology and a B.S. in Business Management (with a concentration in Finance) from Case Western Reserve University and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
- Douglas Doetsch is a partner with Mayer Brown LLP, where he is a member of the Banking & Finance practice and leads the firm’s Latin America/Caribbean practice. In his three decades of work with Mayer Brown, Doug has earned wide recognition from leading legal publications, particularly for his work on first-of-their-kind transactions in emerging markets. Doug earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School, his B.A. from Kalamazoo College and was a Rotary Graduate Fellow at the Université de Dakar in Senegal. Doug is also very active with a number of organizations, including the National Resources Defense Council, the Columbia Transnational Law Association, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the National Museum of Mexican Art. He is excited to be part of the ACIC and looks forward to contributing to helping to work on issues important to the institutional investor community.
- Matt Porter is a Vice President, Associate General Counsel at AIG Investments. In his current role, Matt provides legal counsel to AIG’s Alternatives, Equities and External Mandates Group, covering AIG’s various investments in private equity and venture capital funds, hedge funds, direct equity/co-investment opportunities and structured products. Additionally, Matt provides advice in connection with strategic acquisitions and dispositions, servicing arrangements and corporate governance matters. Prior to joining AIG, Matt was a Senior Associate in the Chicago office of Sidley Austin LLP, where he represented insurance companies, investment banks and private funds in connection with domestic and cross-border transactions involving: secured and unsecured lending, public and private debt offerings, asset-backed securitizations, mergers and acquisitions, alternative risk finance solutions and certain credit enhancement products.
- Manny Rodriguez is a partner with the firm of Avila Rodriguez Mena & Ferri LLP in Miami. He focuses his practice on domestic and cross border private placement financings, P3 transactions and syndicated and asset based finance transactions. Manny regularly represents insurance companies, banks, finance companies and other institutional investors on a variety of matters including private placement financings and P3 transactions. Manny received a B.A. from Florida International University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. Manny has attended ACIC conferences over the past three years and joined the organization in order to become a part of, and network with, a community of lawyers representing institutional investors in connection with private placements. He looks forward to developing strong relationships with other ACIC members and taking advantage of the organization’s excellent meetings and other resources.
