James Kelly is a Staff Attorney in the Investments and Business Transactions department of Allstate Insurance Company. He advises clients with respect to infrastructure investments, debt and equity transactions and general investment matters. Prior to joining Allstate in 2014, he was in-house counsel at Lario Oil & Gas Company in Wichita, KS where his practice focused on derivatives, M&A transactions, corporate litigation and energy law. Jim received a B.S. from the University of Kansas and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
Jim is excited to join the ACIC to participate in the highly regarded educational programs and to stay current with the vast and rapidly evolving issues that affect institutional investors. Furthermore, Jim is looking forward to networking with and learning from colleagues who face many of the same issues
Rebecca Kristall is an associate in the Chicago, Illinois office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP. She focuses her practice on US and cross-border private placement financings. Rebecca regularly represents institutional investors and financial institutions in secured and unsecured private placements of debt securities, credit tenant loans and public-private partnerships. Previously, Rebecca focused on bankruptcy proceedings and distressed situations. Prior to attending law school, Rebecca was an auditor for Arthur Andersen and a financial analyst for GE Capital in their Global Sponsored Finance Group. Rebecca received her B.S. in Accounting from Syracuse University and her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She is also a CPA.
Rebecca has attended ACIC conferences over the past 2 years and found them to be informative and engaging. She looks forward to meeting the many practitioners she works with in person and developing strong relationships with other ACIC members.
Maurice Horwitz is a Vice President and Associate General Counsel at AIG Investments, a registered investment adviser and one of the world’s largest institutional fixed income investors. Maurice’s practice focuses on the evaluation, purchase, maintenance, and sale of fixed income investments, including workouts, restructurings, and the management of investments that are or may become distressed. Prior to joining AIG, he was a senior associate in the Business Finance and Restructuring Group at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he represented debtors and creditors in domestic and international corporate restructurings.
Maurice holds an A.B., magna cum laude, from Princeton University, an M.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. from the University of Southern California.
Maurice joined the ACIC to take advantage of its many educational opportunities and to network with other institutional investment colleagues.
Lorraine Tyson is a shareholder in the Chicago, Illinois office of Greenberg Traurig, LLP. She focuses her practice on domestic and cross border private placement financings, P3 transactions and public finance transactions. Lorraine represents insurance companies, pension funds, banks, finance companies and other institutional investors on private placement financings and P3 transactions. She serves as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, disclosure counsel, remarketing agent counsel, issuer’s counsel and letter of credit counsel on public finance transactions. Lorraine received a B.A. from Northwestern University, a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law and a LL.M. in Taxation from Northwestern University School of Law.
Lorraine joined ACIC to become a part of the community of lawyers representing institutional investors in connection with private placements, and to stay current with the issues unique to the industry. She hopes to connect with the strong network of attorneys servicing the industry and contribute to the growth and development of this strong, member-driven organization.
